Objectives and outcomes<\/p>\n
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and electronics. Upon completion of the course, students have a basic knowledge of principles and laws in electrical engineering. They understand and solve simpler analogue electric and electronic circuits. They are familiar with the principle of how analogue electronic components function.<\/p>\n
Basic concepts of electricity. Electric field. Potential. Conductors and dielectrics. Constant current circuits. Kirchhoff’s first and second laws. Thevenin’s and Norton’s theorem. Magnetic field. Magnetic flux. Basic laws. Mutual inductance and self-inductance. AC circuits. Methods of AC circuit analysis. Simple RLC circuit. Time and frequency domain. Fourier series and Fourier transform. Fundamentals of semiconductors. Diode. The concept of the operating point. Field-effect transistors. The concept of gain, input and output resistance. Basic amplifier couplings. Bipolar transistors. Differential amplifier. Operational amplifier. Basic applications of operational amplifiers.<\/p>\n
AC and DC circuits. Examples of the functioning of basic electronic components as well as simple analogue electronic circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n
