Learning about software packages for signal and system analysis and design. Upon completion of the course, students understand the basic properties of analogue and digital signals and linear dynamic systems. They analyse signals and systems in the time and frequency domain. \u00a0Students apply Fourier, Laplace and z transforms. They know the basic concepts of signal discretisation and reconstruction, limitations and effects of discretisation in signal analysis and processing.<\/p>\n<h5>Lectures<\/h5>\n<p>Concept and basic properties of analogue and digital signals. Basic signal operations &#8211; manipulation of the independent variable, convolution. Concept, division and basic properties of analogue and digital systems. Fourier series. Signals and systems in the complex s domain &#8211; Laplace transform. Frequency description of signals and systems &#8211; Fourier transform. Signals and systems in the complex z &#8211; domain and the z transform. Dicrete-time Fourier transform. Discrete Fourier transform and fast Fourier transform &#8211; FFT. Discretisation and reconstruction of analogue signals. Discretisation of the system.<\/p>\n<h5>Practical classes<\/h5>\n<p>Students do exercises covered in lectures.
