Students are introduced to alternative, classical and new techniques of organizational system analysis,
\ndata modelling and business process modelling. They are able to critically choose the most appropriate
\ntechniques for realistic information system design and apply them.
\nSince each information system is unique, the application of techniques in its design requires careful
\nanalysis of the system and the synthesis of selected techniques.<\/p>\n
Basic concepts and definitions. Development processes in the life cycle of information systems.
\nInformation systems engineering and reengineering. Strategic planning of information systems
\ndevelopment. System analysis – methods, techniques and tools. Management of information systems
\ndevelopment depending on the choice of methodological approach in design.
\nAn example of an object-oriented approach. Models of relational databases and data warehouses.
\nTransactional and dimensional data modelling. Business process libraries. Use of data warehouse.
\nManaging projects whose course is determined using combined and agile methodological approaches.
\nDocumenting information systems. Managing post-project activities aimed at the development and
\nimprovement of information systems. Case studies of information systems projects.<\/p>\n
Students apply the chosen approaches to the design of information systems on a real example from the
\nenvironment. In doing so, they should synthesise aspects of different approaches and critically look at
