Mobile Communications

Objectives and outcomes

Students learn concepts and acquire knowledge about the analysis and design of modern mobile communication systems. Moreover, they study the principles of contemporary transmission techniques in these systems. Upon completion of the course, students identify and analyse the principles of large-scale fading. They understand the effects of small-scale fading and multipath, flat and frequency selective fading, fast and slow fading, Rayleigh fading, Rician fading. They apply methods of mitigating the degradation effects of fading – linear, nonlinear and adaptive equalisation. Students know the techniques of diversity.
