Theoretical classes: Introduction to bionics as a scientific discipline. History and development of bionics. Division of bionics and bionic systems. Mathematical aspects of bionics. The inclusion of bionics in the design process. Bionic design – the visions and models. Bionic principles in the design of transportation equipment. Wrinkles and folds – switches. The bionic materials. Nature as an inspiration in architecture. Derived bionic constructions. Devices for location and live radars. Natural principles of energy use. The application of bionic principles in the design process.
Practical classes: The exercises explain practical examples within the themes presented in the lectures. Especially the correlation between the components and the design process with certain scientific principles in the field of bionics. The aim of the exercises is to prove the organic link between design and the bionic principles, which is the basis for the design, development and usefulness of design results.
