Interior design

Objectives and outcomes

Students learn the principles of interior design. They also learn that interior design serves a functional purpose and is in accordance with technical and legal construction regulations. Furthermore, they learn about furniture, as part of the interior. They study the contemporary tendencies in interior design, especially regarding residential buildings. They are trained to work in teams when it comes to complex interior design projects.

Lectures

Interior through history – stylish interior and contemporary design. Basic concepts of interior design. Philosophy of space. Functionality and space utilisation. Colours and light in the interior. Design of necessary interior elements (function of form). Furniture as an integral part of the interior. Knowledge of materials. Design process in all phases. Public spaces and individual living spaces.

Practical classes

Carrying out project assignments based on the topics covered in lectures. There are certain steps in practical classes. They begin with a task analysis and the collection of necessary information to develop an idea. Then there are sketches or design and conceptual solutions and finally a conceptual design with textual descriptions, and technical and graphic attachments generated through the appropriate AutoDesk software (A-Cad, 3DS Max, Maya).
