Cloud Infrastructure and services

Objectives and outcomes

Students acquire knowledge and understand the principles of cloud computing, infrastructure and cloud architecture as well as services used within computer clouds. Upon completion of the course, students can analyse fundamental problems and concepts related to service structures and resources in the cloud. During the course, students independently design and implement virtual server, storage and network infrastructure within the cloud.

Lectures

Introduction to the history of cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. The introduction and structure of the classic data center. Virtual data center – a server platform. Virtual data center for data storage – a storage platform. Virtual data center – a network platform. Virtual data center – workstations and applications. Data protection within the virtual Data Center- Backup / Archive data. Disaster Recovery solutions. Cloud development services. Infrastructure development and cloud monitoring. Cloud protocols. Data security in the cloud. Cloud data migration. Hyper-converged architecture in the cloud.

Practical classes

Students get an insight into the basics of work and management, as well as into the configuration of the virtual cloud infrastructure which consists of virtual computing, storage and network environments. Moreover, students will be able to work with Hyper-Converged architecture that represents the latest technology in the cloud infrastructure design.
