Doctoral Artistic Project – Artistic Research  

Objectives

The aim is to achieve: 1) criticism and proofreading of artistic results, 2) criticism and proofreading of theoretical (explanatory and interpretive) results, 3) preparation of the dissertation defence.

Outcomes

Students complete doctoral academic studies and demonstrate general competence in the field of multimedia design. They demonstrate the capacity for coherent and creative actions according to specific design purposes. They demonstrate the ability to theorise digital art, critique the purpose and discuss the context of the use of multimedia design. They demonstrate the capacity for improvement and individual and teamwork in various fields of art and design. They demonstrate exceptional competences in the field of design and understanding of multimedia design, digital art, UX design, generative art, interactive and participatory art and virtual reality art. They show the knowledge of animation, photography, graphic design, painting, sound design, ambient art, multimedia art, conceptual art and the theory of art.

Course content

In cooperation with the head of the study program and the mentor, students solve design tasks in the domain of the doctoral artistic project and give explanations of the work outcome. Students complete their doctoral studies with a project that contains an appropriate theoretical (written) explanation and original works from one of the following areas: 1) multimedia design, 2) digital art, 3) UX design, 4) generative art, 5) interactive and participatory art, 6) VR art. The number of authorial works, aesthetic references, and design models, procedures and solutions are suggested to a student by a mentor.
