Fundamentals of project planning

Objectives and outcomes

Students are acquainted with the principles of interior design, i.e. they are ready to plan, prepare and
present project studies in the field of interior design. They learn about the characteristics of orthographic
projection, the rules of graphic representation of shapes from different perspectives and the stages of
technical drawing using software. They learn the elements for making project reports, as well as the
stages of a project: from a conceptual design to software – generated design based on a technical
drawing (made with AutoCAD software).

Lectures

Basic concepts and design process. Geometric and amorphous forms. Shape design and technical
drawing. Fundamentals of descriptive geometry. Types and the illusion of perspective. Central and
angular perspective. Material properties (rules of selection, use and combination). Project documentation. Analysis of the project assignment. Analysis of examples from industrial design and architecture. Gathering information and creating a conceptual solution.
Graphical solutions.

Practical classes

Students deal with the problems of composing shapes in three-dimensional space, i.e. the problems of
designing space. In particular, they deal with strategies for conceiving, preparing and presenting
projects.
