Objectives and outcomes
The aim of the course is to improve students’ knowledge of contemporary topics and specialized areas of
graphic design (with an emphasis on poster design). Another aim is to enable students to cooperate with
institutions such as galleries, libraries, museums, theaters, etc. The outcome is learning about the
processes and postulates of designing posters of different content and purpose. Students are trained to
use design elements in the function of advertising the idea, i.e. promotion, announcement and
documentation of certain content. Another outcome is acquiring knowledge of the poetic and aesthetic
determinants of contemporary graphic design, practically confirmed by a series of design works (graphic
sheets) that illustrate, promote and advertise appropriate creative content (program, performance,
performance or event).
Lectures
Graphic design – comparative analysis of contemporary trends. Historical development of graphic design.
Cases of avant-garde action in the context of graphic design. Graphic design as serial art. Design in
transition. Movement and suggestion of duration in graphic design. Visualization of sound qualities.
Conception and planning of stages and outcomes of the work process in the field of design practice.
Projections of presentation form of a selected performance or event in the field of culture and art
(advertising of program activities).
Practical classes
Making a series of photographs or illustrations relevant to the design of the graphic form of presentation
of the selected creative content. Problems of spatial organization (settings) of graphic sheets. Tasks: film
poster, theater poster, exhibition poster, festival poster, thematic calendar.
