Objectives and outcomes

Students are introduced to modern methods, software concepts and tools for knowledge management in
the organisation. Students master the methods, concepts and software tools for knowledge management
in the organisation. They are competent to analyse and create solutions in further education and work in
a real environment using the most modern methods and software tools for knowledge management.

Lectures

Data, information and knowledge. Knowledge and its function in society. Definition of knowledge about a
certain domain as a set of data and their semantics. Metadata as a tool for describing data semantics.
Organisation of metadata into dictionaries and ontologies. Separate data and metadata storage: a
relational model. Shared data and metadata storage: XML, semantic web, object and document models.
Presentation of knowledge in NoSQL databases. Mapping the semantics of data and processes while
connecting information systems of different companies.
Knowledge discovery in data and business analytics. Knowledge maps and visualisation. Knowledge
management in organisations. Knowledge of organisation in ERP systems. Decision support systems.
Documentation and workflow information systems. Collaboration and knowledge sharing: groupware.
Customer knowledge – CRM systems. Intranet portals for storing and searching knowledge:
Wiki. Organisational learning. E-learning portals. Value networks and intellectual capital of the
organisation.
