Aleksandar Radovanović je diplomirao na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu na odseku za računarsku tehniku i informatiku. Uz rad na fakultetu, postdiplomske studije nastavlja u Južnoafričkoj Republici na University of South Africa a zatim na University of The Western Cape gde stiče doktorat 2009. godine. Iste godine postaje i član osnivačkog kolegijuma univerziteta King Abdullah University of Science and Technology u Saudijskoj Arabiji. Po odlasku iz Saudijske Arabije 2021. godine, pokreće institut za kvantne računare u Kejptaunu. Aleksandar je autor mnogobrojnih naučnih radova i nekoliko knjiga iz oblasti računarstva i bioinformatike.
